Leeds v Bristol City Betting Tips [15 February 2020]

The games don’t seem to be getting any easier for promotion chasing Leeds as in-form Bristol City make the trip to Elland. Marcelo Bielsa’s side were beaten 2-0 away at Nottingham Forest on Saturday last but managed to earn a point away at Brentford in the week and they are now only occupying the second automatic promotion spot on goal difference ahead of Fulham. Bristol City are 7th and breathing down the neck of Preston after a brilliant win over Derby on Wednesday.  

Leeds were 11 points clear of 3rd place in December but they have won just two games in two months and that advantage has been shortened significantly. Leeds have lost four of their last six league games and have scored in just two of their last seven matches. At home they prove a tough nut to crack and had lost just one game when hosting before Christmas but they have lost two since the festive period and that is in direct correlation with their dip in form. Leeds went on a six-game winning streak at home starting in October but they have won just one of their last five home matches and a lack of goals is threatening their season. Patrick Bamford has scored just two goals in his last nine appearance so the Leeds faithful will be hoping new signing Jean-Kevin Augustin can come in and start banging goals.  

Bristol City come into this game after four wins from their last five league fixtures and they are piling the pressure on those teams occupying the play-off places, including Leeds. A win for the away side would see them level on points with Leeds and Leeds could fall from 2nd to as far as 6th if they were to lose so it’s perhaps a must win game for both or certainly a must not lose encounter. The visitors have won each of their last two away games 1-0. Bristol City are the third best side when it comes to away games with 28 points from a possible 48 and they have three away games on the spin. 

Leeds may not be guaranteeing wins but their games often promise little to no goals. Bielsa’s pragmatic approach mixed with Leeds’ misfiring in front of goal could make for a drab encounter here so I’m going to tip under 2.5 goals in this one.
