The Coppa Italia Round of 16 match between Juventus and Monza is set to take place at the Allianz Stadium, with the winner of this match set to face the winner of Bologna vs Lazio at the quarter finals. Juventus is still recovering from their embarrassing 5-1 defeat at Napoli on Friday, which has significantly dented their hopes of entering an unlikely title race, despite an impressive streak of eight league wins and clean sheets in a row before that. Their prospects for a Scudetto after three years appear bleak at the moment, but the game against Monza could be an opportunity for them to regain some momentum. The Old Lady has been solid at home, recording seven wins in their last nine home games, and clean sheets in six of those. This will be the first time they host Monza for a competitive game, but they lost the league game at Monza 1-0 in October.
Monza have been showing a significant improvement since the beginning of the season, they claimed an important victory in Cremona for the “newly promoted sides’ derby” against Cremonese, and are currently sitting in eleventh place. They are unbeaten in their last four competitive games, with only four losses in thirteen games. The Andrea Galliani owned side have found stability and consistency in their play, however, they have struggled on the road, securing only eight points from nine Serie A outings. Three of their last five away games saw Under 2.5 goals and they have failed to score in three of four away meetings with Italy’s “Big Seven” teams this season, losing all of them.
