Juventus host Maccabi Haifa, as they look to finally break the duck in their Champions League group. The Old Lady clinched a much-needed 3-0 victory over Bologna, putting an end to a miserable five game winless run. When the crucial Serie A showdown against Milan waiting at the weekend, Juve will want to keep up the good momentum by a win against the Israeli outfit. On the upside, they tend to be hard to beat at the Allianz Stadium, where they have lost just one of their last six games. Defence is an area that Allegri should be focusing on however. Juventus have conceded in six of their last eight games, while they have let in four goals in their two European games so far. Their tradition with Haifa is good, having beaten them twice in their previous two meetings for the Champions League back in 2009.
Maccabi Haifa might have been the fairytale story of this year’s Champions League qualifiers, but they have not performed that well in an admittedly tough group. They have lost both of their games, conceding five goals in the process. They have also gone under a bit of a blip in recent games, losing three of their last five, yet they picked up a morale-boosting victory against Maccabi Tel Aviv at the weekend. On the downside, their record at Europe’s elite competition is dismal to say the least, as they have lost all of their last eight games in the Champions League, scoring just once in those encounters.
