A solitary point separates Juventus and Lokomotiv Moscow in Group D of the Champions League. The Italian giants will be keen to continue their unbeaten start to the group phase.
Juventus started their Champions League commitments with a 2-2 draw at Atletico Madrid. They were then back to their best with a 3-0 home win over Bayer Leverkusen. A 2-1 win over Bologna in Serie A last weekend made it five competitive wins at home this season. In each of those matches, the ‘Old Lady’ have scored at least twice. Furthermore, Juventus have a perfect record against Russian visitors at home. They have won all three home games against Russian clubs, scoring nine goals and conceding just once. Juventus have an excellent record at home, losing only four of their 39 European games at the Juventus Stadium.
Lokomotiv started their Champions League group stage commitments with a 2-1 away win over Bayer Leverkusen. However, a 2-0 home loss against Atletico Madrid set them back. Lokomotiv have won seven of their ten competitive matches away from home this season. In six of those seven wins, the Russian visitors have scored at least twice. However, their record in the European competitions hasn’t been impressive. Lokomotiv have lost four of their last five away matches in European matches. They have conceded over 2.5 goals in three of those losses.
Juventus let slip a two-goal lead at Atletico Madrid to draw in their opening fixture of the group. However, the home win over Bayer Leverkusen and the subsequent form in Serie A shows that Juventus are hitting their stride. It could be a tough trip for Lokomotiv, especially since Juventus have an impressive record against Russian sides.
