Internacional have a second straight game at home in the Brazilian Serie A when they host Coritiba on Match Day 14. Six points separate the two sides, with Internacional fifth on 21 points and Coritiba are 15th. Both teams are coming from losses, but Internacional’s was a shock one, falling 3-2 at home to Botafogo. It wasn’t so much of a surprise though, given Inter have struggled at home in the league this season. In six home matches in Serie A, they’ve managed just two wins. That’s not to say they are struggling though; in the last 17 matches, their latest loss is their only defeat. They’re strong in attack, managing two or more goals in four of their last five matches, though they have just one clean sheet in those five matches.
Coritiba, on their part, are coming from a 1-0 loss at home to Athletico Paranaense – their third straight loss. This was also their fifth straight winless outing. In the last 10 games across all competitions, Coritiba have six losses and only two wins. Four times in the last 10 matches, Coritiba have failed to score, while they have just two clean sheets in those 10 games. They don’t have a very strong run away from home either; in their last seven matches on the road, Coritiba have no win. They’ve lost five of the seven away matches and drawn two. In four of their last five away league matches, they’ve conceded two or more goals, but they’ve failed to score in just one of those five matches.
In terms of recent form, Internacional carries the day, but these two sides have one thing in common – they are very strong in defence. Clean sheets are rare in their matches and we expect the same here. Back both teams to score.
