The Spanish Second division is one of the few leagues still playing during the World Cup.with the seventeenth round pitting together Huesca and Sporting Gijon. The hosts were beaten 2-0 by Tenerife at the weekend.falling to ninth place yet only two points shy of the play-off spots. It was Huesca’s third defeat in four, with the team showing signs of regression after impressively going unbeaten in the seven games before that run. Huesca have also been impressive of late on home soil, being unbeaten in seven and keeping clean sheets in five of them (including the last three), while they have won two of their previous four home meetings against Gijon.
The visitors had an entertaining draw against Leganes at the weekend, which kept them in eleventh place in the standings. Gijon are now four games unbeaten, while they have lost just two of their last eleven matches. Their weakness so far has clearly been on the defensive end, with the Gijon side having kept their net intact in just two of those eleven games. They have also beaten Huesca just once in their last seven meetings, while seven of their previous eight clashes have featured Under 2.5 goals.
