Seventh place Huddersfield will be looking to move into promotion playoff position with a positive result when they host likely relegation candidates Derby for matchday 30 of the Championship. Fine margins separate Huddersfield from fifth place West Brom and sixth place Middlesborough, with all three even on 45 points but the hosts trailing on goal differential. The Terriers will be looking to keep up their current 10 match unbeaten streak in all competitions after their last match finished 1-1 to Stoke. The visitors come into this one after a dramatic 2-2 home draw to Birmingham which saw them erase a 2-0 deficit with two last-gasp goals to rescue a point. Derby currently sit in 23rd place with 15 points and trail safety by seven points. All is not lost for the Rams however and there is plenty of season left for them to close the gap on 21st place Reading.
It would be quite the accomplishment for manager Wayne Rooney and his Derby side if they are able to survive relegation despite deductions totaling a massive 21 points this season. Derby currently hold a record of 8-12-8, a record that would be good for around 15th place and a comfortable lead over the drop zone during a normal season - a testament to what Rooney has been able to do this season while working with severely limiting restrictions in the transfer market. One reason why Derby has been performing above expectations has been their sturdy defense. They have the fifth best defensive record in the league with only 28 goals conceded and have done a good job this season at limiting teams and keeping themselves in matches. Both of these sides trend towards unders and it is likely we see a low scoring match in this one.
