Hoffenheim v Köln Betting Tips [27 May 2020]

Hoffenheim gave away a one goal lead to draw 1-1 at Paderborn last Saturday, a result that placed them eighth in the Bundesliga. A day later, next opponents FC Koln drew 2-2 at home to Fortuna Dusseldorf. This was the second time in a row that Dusseldorf were recording a 2-2 draw at the venue after they held Mainz a week earlier. Koln are now tenth in the table standings, just two points behind Hoffenheim and five adrift of the Europa League positions.

Hoffenheim will go into the match hoping to break a seven-game winless streak in the league, with their last victory being recorded on the first day of February when they beat Bayer Leverkusen at the PreZero Arena. Since then, Die Kraichgauer have been struggling to find their footing and have lost three consecutive matches at the venue. In fact, Hoffenheim have only kept four clean sheets in their last 20 home matches in the competition, implying that the visitors could slot one or more goals past the Hoffenheim keeper. 

Visitors Koln will be travelling to Baden-Württemberg looking for their first league victory against the hosts since 2015. This may not necessarily be a tough challenge for Koln who have won two of four away games in the league, including a 5-0 win at Hertha Berlin just before the league was suspended to deal with the coronavirus trouble. It was at Hertha Berlin that Koln managed their only away clean sheet in eleven games. It, therefore, goes without saying that there is a high likelihood of the hosts scoring at least one goal in this match. 

With a Europa League position within sight for both opponents, the two coaches will work overtime to ensure that they do not miss on the opportunity. This competitiveness will essentially make this one of the most fast-paced games of the mid-week. 

Koln have not beaten  Hoffenheim in five consecutive games and will be hoping to end that bad run with a victory on Wednesday. However, the hosts will be fully alert in the match because it has a lot at stake. It is certain that goals will be scored in this match, and possibly by both opponents.
