The Serie A season is on and champions Internazionale have made a flying start, which they will hope to keep going as they visit Verona in the second week of action. Hosts Verona had a losing start, falling 3-2 at home to Sassuolo and will hope to recover here. Mattia Zaccagni scored two for Verona but a red card to Miguel Veloso saw them play the entire second half with 10 men. It was always going to be hard against their visitors, and going to their second straight home game, they’ll want to do things differently. They will however be outright underdogs, heading to the game winless in 10 league matches and without a clean sheet in that run. Also, they haven't beaten Internazionale in their history and doing so in their current form will count for one of the biggest shocks.
Internazionale, on their part, thrashed Genoa 4-0 in the opening week, with debutants Edin Dzeko and Hakan Calhanoglu helping themselves to goals. Arturo Vidal and Milan Skriniar scored the other two in Simone Inzaghi’s first league game in charge. The win extended the teams impressive run in Serie A, having lost just once in the last 23. They didn’t show any signs of missing Romelu Lukaku, Achraf Hakimi, Ashley Young and the other big guns who left after last season’s triumph. It is business for Inter and they will look to extend also the good away run in the league that started last season. They lost just two of their away league matches last term. With a run of 17 wins in 21 meetings with Verona, we don’t expect much change here.
A dominant display from Inter is expected here. Their opening win and general run in Serie A will give them confidence going into this game and they also have never lost to Verona. Back Inter to win at half time and full time.
