The Europa League returns this week and with just eight teams left in the competition, it is very much all to play for. Unai Emery won this competition three years in a row with Sevilla and he will be keen to make it to the semi-finals here with his Villarreal team. The Yellow Submarine are on the road for the first leg of their quarter-final with Dinamo Zagreb having got past Dynamo Kyiv in the round of 16 winning 4-0 on aggregate. Zagreb meanwhile, pulled off the shock of the tournament as they turned around a 2-0 deficit from the first leg by defeating favourites Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 after extra-time in their home fixture.
Zagreb will be counting on their impressive home record to keep their European run going. The hosts have won eight matches in a row when hosting without conceding a single goal. The Croatian side defeated Krasnodar 1-0 during the home leg of their round of 32 tie before their heroics against Spurs but they were held on the road at the weekend by Sibenik in a 1-1 draw.
Villarreal eased past Red Bull Salzburg in the round of 32 with a 4-1 aggregate win and comfortably despatched of Ukrainian outfit Dynamo Kyiv in the last round with a 2-0 win in each leg. Villarreal have also picked up their form domestically of late, having won each of their last three games in La Liga. They have now won each of their last three games on the road after a 3-0 win at Granada on Saturday and they have won four of their five European away games this season.
