Getafe v Real Madrid Betting Tips [8 October 2022]

Matchday 8 of the Spanish La Liga sees a Madrid derby when Real Madrid makes the short trip to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez to take on Getafe. The visitors have been in scintillating form this season with 10 wins from their first 11 matches and having yet to taste defeat throughout all competitions. Madrid’s only dropped points of the campaign came in a 1-1  home draw against Osasuna in their most recent league outing. The run of form has Los Blancos sharing the top of the La Liga table with bitter rivals Barcelona as both historic clubs find themselves locked on 19 points, although it’s the Blaugrana that edge first place on goal differential. On the other side, Getafe has come out of the gates slowly and has started the league season with two wins, a draw and four losses through the first seven matches. Los Azulones will be looking to bounce back after a 3-2 home loss to Valladolid in their most recent fixture snapped an encouraging two match winning streak.

Madrid has been dealing with a number of slight injury concerns over the past month. The hugely important Karim Benzema should get the start here and avoid being rested by manager Carlo Ancelotti after the striker missed three matches in the middle of September due to injury. Benzema has started Madrid’s last two matches and should be fresh enough to play on Saturday. Another injury concern has been influential midfielder Luka Modric who picked up a knock while on international duty with Croatia. The 37-year old has recovered faster than expected though and could be in line to start this match. Modric was initially targeting a return in the 2-1 win over Shakhtar but manager Carlo Ancelotti opted not to risk the former Ballon d’Or winner. A trip to Warsaw, Poland awaits Ancelotti’s men just three days after this matchup so rotation concerns are of course in play here, although Madrid have a deep enough squad to cope with any changes and should still record a comfortable victory.

We’re going to back Real Madrid on the -1 Asian Handicap as our bet for this one. This means that the visitors must win by a margin of two or more goals for our bet to be a winner, while a one goal margin of victory would result in a push. This is a generous price given Madrid’s form this season as they continue to pile up the wins. The bookmakers are likely worried about the congested schedule that the defending La Liga champions have to deal with but there is still value on this line at this price. Madrid should be able to walk away with the three points with a 2-0 scoreline the most likely result.
