Genoa v Lazio Betting Tips [23 February 2020]

Lazio had the week off as they exited the Europa League in the group stage but their terrific domestic form could have them returning to Europe’s top table of Champions League football next year. Lazio are 19 games unbeaten in the Serie A and their 2-1 win over Inter last Sunday has them in 2nd place and firmly in the title picture. Lazio handed Inter just their second defeat of the season to move within one point of Juventus at the top of the table while their hosts come into this game in the relegation zone despite back-to-back wins. 

The home side are unbeaten in their last four Serie A games but are still in 18th position which means they are still in a relegation scrap at the foot of the table. Genoa were 3-0 winners away at Bologna last week to follow up another win over Cagliari a week prior. At home they have a checkered record of late winning four and losing four of their last eight matches at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. Nonetheless they have lost just one of their last five games in the competition and they are just one point behind Sampdoria in 17th.  

As for Lazio they are the form team in the division and their run of results is finally starting to show in the standings. They have pounced on Inter and Juve’s stuttering form and now have a real chance of claiming their first Scudetto in 20 years. Away from home they have picked up 23 points from a possible 33, winning seven of their 11 games on the road. The Biancocelesti have won three of their last five matches in Serie A and their current unbeaten streak actually started against Genoa when they ran out 4-0 winners in the reverse fixture earlier this season. 

Lazio are on fire at the minute and I don’t see them being stopped and especially not here. Genoa have improved since Christmas but this Lazio side has so much hunger and desire as shown by the turnaround versus Inter last weekend. Back an away win here.
