Genoa v Hellas Verona Betting Tips [2 August 2020]

Genoa's Serie A survival bid extends to the final day of the competition as they host ninth placed Hellas Verona. Genoa are 17th, with 36 points, one above the relegation zone and could survive if 18th placed US Lecce fail to beat Parma in their final league match. A win, however, will guarantee their safety and another season in the Italian top flight  This is the second time in a row that Genoa are leaving their survival fight to the last day.  

Genoa face Verona after a 5-0 humiliation at Sassuolo Calcio, their second defeat on the trot after they lost 3-0 at home to Inter Milan. Nine goals conceded in their last three matches keep Genoa among the leading four teams in goal concession. It is a similar situation for them at home, where they have a minus ten goal difference. Genoa have lost five of their last seven home league games. However, four of those were inflicted by the top four teams in Serie A. Their home form has improved of late with two victories (both against relegation candidates) in the last three played. 

Visitors Hellas Verona are ninth but a win could see them finish a place higher. Their most recent game saw them win defeat relegated SPAL 3-0. That ended a run of seven league games without a win, though four of those matches had finished in a draw. Away form is poor with no wins in their last ten league games, seven have ended level though. 13 league matches have been drawn this season (eight on their travels), the joint highest total shared with Fiorentina overall and with Genoa and Cagliari on their travels.This will be a tricky match for Verona, too, as they have lost in their last four Serie A visits to Genoa, an unflattering run that they will be out to end on Sunday. 
 

Hellas Verona's season is fundamentally over and they have little pressure as they take on a Genoa side that is fighting to remain in the league. The hosts will be hoping to move away from the mistakes that have seen them concede eight goals in their last two league matches, but will also play with urgency from kick off. As such, we see this game ending with both teams scoring for an over 2.5 goal total.
