Matchday 23 of the English Premier League sees high-flying Fulham hosting a resurgent Nottingham Forest team at Craven Cottage in West London. Fulham have been riding high this season and are up to eighth-place in the standings, just one year after winning promotion by topping the Championship. They have amassed a record of nine wins, dive draws and eight defeats for a total of 32 points and trailing sixth-place Brighton by just two points. The Cottagers earned a 3-2 away victory over Sunderland in the FA Cup fourth round in their last fixture and will hope to carry over that momentum. The hosts have encountered a difficult run of form in the Premier League as they’ve taken only a single point from their last three matches while also failing to score in each match. A return to their home ground against a bottom-half team could be just what the doctor ordered to get back to scoring ways. Fulham have won five of their 11 matches at Craven Cottage and have lost just three.
Nottingham Forest come into this match in an excellent vein of form after winning three of their last five Premier League matches and going unbeaten in their last five. The run has seen the Tricky Trees shoot up the table from out of the relegation zone and into 13th-place with a record of six wins, six draws and nine defeats, for a total of 24 points and a decent six point cushion over the relegation zone. Forest are coming off of a fortunate 1-0 home win over Leeds in the most recent fixture as they ultimately created very little in the match. They’ll now have to go on the road in a situation in which they have struggled this season. Forest were on a previously very ugly run of away form which saw them score only one goal over their first eight road trips. More recently though, Forest are appearing to turn things around and have picked up four points from their last two Premier League away matches.
Fulham will have to tread carefully here as this has the potential to be an extremely tricky fixture. A quick glance at Forest’s away record will certainly make any bettor wary of putting their money down on them. However, manager Steve Cooper’s team has vastly improved over recent weeks and has even put together a string of positive results away from home. With Fulham’s recent struggles, especially in regards to finding the net, the visitors should be confident of walking away from Craven Cottage with a result.
