Freiburg host Dortmund at the Europa-Park Stadion for the second round of the German Bundesliga. Christian Stretch’s team continued right where they left off last season, where they qualified for Europe and reached the final of the DFB Pokal, in what was an impressive year for them. They stunned Augsburg, with their former player Michael Gregoritsch scoring twice and opening his account with the Freiburg team. The home side are in excellent form of late, being unbeaten in their last seven games. They are also continuing to show the same solidity in the back that earned them European qualification, keeping clean sheets in four of those seven games. They also have a good recent tradition against Dortmund, whom they have managed to beat in their last two meetings.
Edin Terzic’ Dortmund reign started in the best possible manner. After easily eliminating Munich 1860 for the Cup, they kicked off their league campaign brightly as well, picking up another win against Leverkusen. What is promising for Terzic’ side is that they managed to keep back to back clean sheets, with Nico Schlotterbeck deputising at the back and performing greatly. Dortmund are also highly efficient in their recent away games, managing to win five on the bounce and keeping clean sheets in three of them. In fact, barring a loss away to giants Bayern Munich, Dortmund have not tasted defeat in twelve away games. They have found it tough at Freiburg recently however, winning just one of the five games they have played there.
