France bid to again become World and European champions at the same time. They've done it once and are favourites to win Euro 2020 and begin their campaign with a group match against Germany. The other two countries in this group are defending champions Portugal and Hungary, hence it being known as the Group of Death, especially if you are Hungarian. France come into this tournament in top form. Their two home warm-up friendlies against Wales and Bulgaria were both won 3-0. It was promising for them that Giroud, Mbappe and Griezmann all got on the scoresheet. Griezmann scored two goals in those friendlies and has hit the back of the net in three of their last four matches. The French side is packed with potential matchwinners, that's why they are favourites to win Euro 2020. They have won their last four games and have only a friendly defeat by Finland in their last 20 matches.
Germany won their final warm-up match 7-1 at home to Latvia. That was a welcome win after a home loss to North Macedonia and 1-1 draw and a 6-0 thrashing by Spain in their Nations League group. The Germans had a disastrous 2018 World Cup campaign, failing to get out of their group. Their first Nations League should have seem them relegated but the rules were changed, The 2020/21 Nations League didn't go well either with only two wins in six matches. Germany will hope that history repeats itself as their last European title was won 25 years ago in a final played at Wembley. They last beat France seven years ago and have no wins in their last five games against the team who replaced them as world champions. France are in the better form at present and can win this match.
