Fortuna Dusseldorf v Schalke 04 Betting Tips [27 May 2020]

Fortuna Düsseldorf are sixteenth in the Bundesliga table and have a great chance of overcoming relegation if they win most of their remaining seven games, starting with a victory in their next match at home to eighth-placed Schalke 04. Fortuna just drew 2-2 at FC Koln, their second consecutive tie after they held Paderborn to a 0-0 draw in their first match after the league resumed from the Covid-19 break.

Schalke will be travelling to North Rhine-Westphalia wounded by a 3-0 loss at home to lower side Augsburg. This was the second defeat for Schalke since the league resumed after they suffered a 4-0 humiliation at the hands of Borussia Dortmund. At eighth-place, the Europa League positions are just two points ahead and it will be reckless for ‎Die Königsblauen not use this opportunity move higher. Yet while they may be presently better ranked than their next opponents, they will need to approach this match with caution as Fortuna pushed for a 3-3 draw in the reverse tie, which had been preceded by a 4-0 Fortuna victory in the second round match of the previous season. The seven goals conceded in the last two games helped depress Schalke's goal difference tally to -10. Away matches have also been troublesome for Schalke as they have played five consecutive league games without a victory, and it will require an ingenious strategic decisions by coach David Wagner for his team to carry the day. 

The hosts have the most to lose in this match and need to be on high alert from the start of the match. However, they are lined up to challenge a superior Schalke team, which could shake their recent lull and pursue an ego-boosting victory. This will be a tough match to call but we see the visitors winning or at the very least bidding for a draw.
