Fortuna Dusseldorf v Hoffenheim Betting Tips [6 June 2020]

With five rounds of fixtures left to play in the Bundesliga Fortuna Dusseldorf find themselves involved in a relegation scrap. The club were promoted as champions of Bundesliga zwei in 2018 but may well have to fight it out in the weeks ahead as they currently sit in the relegation play-off spot (16th)  and just two points ahead of Werder Bremen in the automatic relegation zone. They welcome Hoffenheim to the Merkur Spiel-Arena with the visitors quietly confident they can take a Europa League spot from under the nose of Wolfsburg. Back-to-back wins for Hoffenheim means they are level on 42 points with the wolves and only behind in 7th place on goal difference.  

Uwe Rosler’s Dusseldorf squandered a two-goal lead away at Cologne a fortnight ago and it may come back to haunt them as we enter the closing stages of the season. They are just one point from safety behind Mainz but with tricky games against Leipzig and Dortmund ahead they really need to take their chances when they are presented to them. They will be comforted by the fact that four of their six wins this term have come at home and they are unbeaten in three while hosting. Fortuna defeated Schalke in their most recent home game but a 0-0 draw with bottom side Paderborn has also thwarted their survival bid. 

As for Hoffenheim they have went under the radar since the season resumed and are now in contention for Europa League qualifying round place. They have taken seven points from their last three games and are now locked on level points with Wolfsburg although an inferior goal difference could halt their progression. They will have their eye on a third successive win here and with just three defeats on the road in the league this season their steady form could well take them over the line again here.  

Hoffenheim are making a late season surge for Europe but Dusseldorf have a lot to play for as well and given the situation both teams need the victory a draw won’t be good enough so that will make for an exciting game. Hoffenheim were beaten here last season although they did score and I expect them to cause their opponents problems again but I too think the home side will find the net in this match and I feel the best bet here is for both teams to score.
