Flamengo are struggling domestically, but in continental action they are among the best after the opening four Match Days in the Copa Libertadores. They lead Group H with 10 points from four matches and are on the cusp of qualification for the next stage as they prepare to host Universidad Catolica. Catolica have four points from four matches and are third. Flamengo have two wins in the last five matches and have one clean sheet in those five games. Three of these five matches have produced over 2.5 goals and Flamengo have failed to score in only one of them. The Brazilian side has a different story in the Libertadores though. Finalists last season, they have three wins and a draw since losing to Palmeiras in the final and they have scored twice or more in these four matches. Four of their last five matches have also seen over 2.5 goals scored. Flamengo however have just one clean sheet in five Libertadores matches this season.
Chilean side Universidad Catolica doesn’t have a very good run. They are coming from a 3-0 win over Union La Calera, their first win in six matches, and third in 10 games. This win is their first clean sheet in five matches and the third in which their games have produced over 2.5 goals. In three of their last five matches, both teams have scored and Universidad Catolica has been even poorer away from home, losing six of their last seven away matches. In the last four away matches, they’ve failed to score in three and five times in eight away matches they’ve conceded two or more goals. Their journey in the Copa Libertadores hasn’t been the best away from home; they have no win in the last four and have failed to score in three. In 14 away matches in this competition, they haven’t scored more than a goal.
Flamengo have a good run in the Copa Libertadores and will be looking to extend it here against this Chilean side that’s really struggling in the competition. It has particularly been tough away from home for Universidad Catolica, and they’ve struggled in attack. For both teams though, most of their recent matches have seen over 2.5 goals scored and we will back the same here
