Two of the most consistent players on the circuit meet in the Australian Open quarter final. Second seeded Daniil Medvedev takes on the ninth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime with the Russian looking to maintain his unbeaten record against the Canadian. He's won all three of their previous meetings. The most recent of those was in the ATP Cup where he only dropped four games in two sets. Before that, he had a tougher match against Auger-Aliassime in the 2021 US Open semi-final. He'll hope history repeats itself with a win over him and then going on to win the title. Medvedev is bidding to win a second straight Grand Slam and go one better than last year when being beaten by Djokovic in the Australian Open final. This is his first match against a seeded player but he has dropped two sets. Hopefully he'll be on the Rod Laver Court this time.
Felix Auger-Aliassime is the world number nine and has had a bit of a struggle to get this far. Only when beating Dan Evans in round three did he not lose a set. His campaign could have ended in the first round when he had to win the last two sets to get past Emil Ruusuvouri. His second round win against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina was one for the statisticians, with all four sets being won a tie-break. He's played six of those so far in this tournament, compared to four for his opponent. He's likely to put up a major battle against Medvedev and his serve is hard to break. Go for over 35.5 games and have a side bet on there being at least one tie-break.
