Farense v Sporting Lisbon Betting Tips [16 April 2021]

League-leaders Sporting Lisbon have seen their advantage reduced to six points in recent weeks following back-to-back draws however, they do remain unbeaten in Liga Nos this season and are on course to secure their first league title in almost 20 years. Their opponents Farense are currently in the relegation zone with eight rounds of fixtures to go. The newly-promoted club have been lingering at the foot of the table all season and with time running out they will need a couple more wins to give themselves a chance of surviving. The Faro-based side are 17th with 22 points, just two behind Maritimo in the relegation play-off place and three from safety.  

Farense have lost four of their last five matches and find themselves staring at relegation. Farense last competed in the top-flight the last time Sporting ended up winning the title but with just one win in eight they could be set for an immediate exit from the Primeira Liga. 13 of their 22 points have been attained at home but the hosts have lost three of their last four games at the Estadio de Sao Luis in Faro. 

Sporting Lisbon last won the Primeira Liga title back in the 2001/02 season but after being knocked out of the Europa League qualifying stages at the final hurdle it has opened the door for them to focus solely on domestic duties while the rest of the top-four including Porto, Benfica, and Braga have had to deal with the distraction of European football. Sporting have won nine of their last 12 league matches and remain unbeaten this season with 10 wins from 13 away fixtures.
