This is the first game of matchweek 32 in the Premier League and a vital fixture for both teams. Everton are eighth in the table but will climb above visitors seventh placed Tottenham if winning this game. Everton are still hopeful of Champions League football next season but desperately need to improve their form. They are seven points behind fourth placed West Ham and have a game in hand on the Londoners. Fifth or sixth are a little bit closer (six and four points respectively) but they need to end a run of four league games without a win. Monday saw them only draw 0-0 at Brighton. That followed a 1-1 home draw with Crystal Palace and more than two points should be being earned against those two clubs. Everton are having problems with their home league form. They have just one win from their last eight home Premier League games. Considering how close they are to a place in Europe, imagine how high they'd be if home form was better. Four points have come from the last three but that's still not good enough. Losing at home to sides such as Burnley, Newcastle and Fulham doesn't get you into Europe. Three of the last four at home have seen both teams get on the scoresheet. Only two home league clean sheets have been kept this season, again nowhere good enough.
Tottenham are also battling to get into Europe next season. Their most recent Premier League game was a 3-1 home loss to Manchester United on Sunday. They begin this weekend in seventh, six points off fourth and five behind fifth. Later this month they take on Manchester City in the EFL Cup final, winning that will take them into the new UEFA Conference League. Losing though will see another European place available in the Premier League. Tottenham are also struggling for form though and after the United defeat, they have just four points from four league games. All a bit frustrating considering they led against Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle and earned just a single point from those matches. Their most recent away league game saw them win 2-0 at Aston Villa. Five away league fixtures have been lost this season but they have won seven, including two of the last four. Go for both teams to score in this match.
