Everton only just avoided relegation last season and another struggle looks likely this term. They begin the 2022/23 season with a home game against Chelsea who finished third last year. Everton have made some signings during the summer including defender James Tarkowski and Dwight McNeill. However, the loss of Richarlison to Tottenham without a suitable replacement signed is a big blow for the team. Pre-season games haven't gone well including conceding 11 goals in three matches against Arsenal and Minnesota United. They really need to be busy in the final days of the summer transfer window or it could be another relegation battle for them.
Chelsea won 12 away Premier League games last season. Only Manchester City and Liverpool won more than the Blues. They have only lost one of their last eight away league games but that was at Everton as the home side battled to stay in the top division in England. Chelsea have made some good summer signings with Raheem Sterling at the top of that list. They have also had some mixed results in pre-season friendlies but if we took them too seriously it appears Arsenal would be favourites to win the Premier League. Everton aren't easy to beat at home but their transfer dealings don't look inspiring. Back Chelsea to get the win.
