It's going to be another nervous weekend for Everton. They begin the weekend in 16th place and host Brentford who are 13th. Everton are currently two points clear of the bottom three and have a game in hand on 18th placed Leeds United. Burnley are 17th (two points behind, level games) and they and Leeds both play before this game begins. If both Burnley and Leeds were to win, then Everton would start this game in the bottom three. The Toffees drew 0-0 at Watford on Wednesday and now have two home games in four days, the other being against Crystal Palace on the 19th. They may want to get as many points as possible from the two games as their final fixture is away at Arsenal. Everton have seven points from their last three league games and 10 from the last four at home. They have won eight home league fixtures at Goodison Park this season but lost seven.
Bentford can celebrate the fact they are going to be in the Premier League next season. They are the only one of the three teams promoted last season who can say that. There have been some worrying times though for the Bees but a form guide for the past 10 league games has them in fourth place at the time of writing this preview. They have won five away league games this season but three of those have come in recent months. Three away games in four were won before a 3-0 loss at Manchester United in their most recent fixture. The reverse fixture between these two clubs saw Brentford get a 1-0 win in November via an Ivan Toney penalty. They did win their last top flight game at Goodison Park but that was 76 years ago. Everton have made huge strides in recent weeks as they bid to avoid the drop, back them to win this game.
