England won their first group match against Croatia but are not top of the table. That honour goes to the Czech Republic because of their better goal difference when beating Scotland 2-0 on Monday. Now it's England v Scotland and if the Scots can win this, it'll be like winning the tournament for them. England beat Croatia but it wasn't the greatest of performances, not one to scare the rest of Europe. A better performance from Harry Kane would put a big smile on the face of Gareth Southgate. At this stage though, getting the points that take you into the knockout stages is the main task. Winning this match will guarantee England a place in the last sixteen and if the Czechs and Croatia draw, then that'd be another step towards winning the group. England might make some changes for this game. Jack Grealish could well feature. England are looking to make it eight wins in a row and should be able to achieve that.
Scotland lost their opener but they are a long way from being eliminated yet, even if losing this game. They'd probably prefer to see Croatia lose to the Czechs and then battle it out with them for third place. Finishing in that position with three points could well take them into the last sixteen. One problem they have is their goal difference, already minus two. If they do lose this match, a narrow defeat would be helpful. Scotland had a lot of possession on Monday but you can't do too much when the opposition score a wonder goal against you. The other could have been avoided though. Making mistakes when the likes of Kane and Sterling are around isn't going to help them. Back England to win this game.
