The long wait is nearly over after the delay of these European Championships. England are favourites with some bookmakers to win Euro 2020 (2021) and they begin their campaign with a game against Croatia. Gareth Southgate's side are on a run of six straight wins and with only one goal conceded. They have home advantage for their three group games and that is going to help them settle into this tournament. There are no major injury worries aside from Harry Maguire and Southgate will hope it stays that way. England lost to Croatia in the 2018 World Cup semi-final. Since then though, they have drawn 0-0 in Croatia and beaten them at Wembley.
Croatia lost in the 2018 World Cup but haven't had a great deal of success since that defeat. They have failed to make it to either of the two Nations League finals. 2018/19 saw them finish bottom behind England and Spain but weren't relegated. The latest edition saw them win one and lose five in their group but finish above Sweden to avoid dropping to League B. Only two of their last nine games have been won. Those were home matches against Cyprus and Malta. Away form isn't impressive with one win in nine and the last three all lost. If England can overcome any nerves then they should be able to start this group with a win over Croatia.
