Ons Jabeur has won her last 11 matches and all have been played on grass. The Tunisian bids to make it a round dozen of wins when taking on Elena Rybakina in the Wimbledon women's singles final. It's the first time that Tunisia and Khazakhstan have had finalists and it is Jabeur who is the worthy favourite to lift her first Grand Slam title. Jabeur began the year ranked in 10th place but after winning the German Open grass court tournament, moved up to second in the rankings, though a long way behind Iga Swiatek. While the number one is not a great fan of grass court events, Jabeur is and reached the last eight in 2021. This year has seen her lose only two sets on her way to this final. One of those was in her semi-final, losing the second set to Tatyana Maria. There have been three previous meetings between Jabeur and Rybakina and it's the Tunisian who has a 2-1 lead. She lost the first match in 2019 but has won both of the ones played since then.
Elena Rybakina is the 17th seed (14 below her opponent) and the world number 23. You can bet she wishes there were ranking points available at Wimbledon this year. Rybakina has only made one previous Grand Slam quarter final and that was on clay at Roland Garros. This is just her second time at Wimbledon and last year saw her reach the last 16. Only one set has been lost by her in this tournament (to Tomljanovic in the semi-final) but Jabeur is only the second seed she's had to face. The other was the 16th seeded Simona Halep who she convincingly beat in straight sets. The pressure will be on both these players and Jabeur has more experience of finals (this is her fitth this year with two wins so far). Back Jabeur to win the title.
