Borussia Dortmund will be looking to avenge last week’s defeat to Cologne when they travel to draw specialists Eintracht Frankfurt. The visitors lost 2-1 at home to Cologne last weekend and are now 4th four points off top spot while their hosts are 9th after four successive draws.
Frankfurt have drawn six of their first nine games in the Bundesliga and they remain unbeaten at home this season with three draws and win from their first four matches. The Eagles haven’t lost in any of their last six games at the Deutsche Bank Park as they finished last season with two successive victories over Paderborn and Schalke. A stalemate for Frankfurt here would mark a fifth successive draw for the club, their longest ever streak in the Bundesliga and with the last three meetings between these teams at this ground, finishing level, you wouldn’t rule it out.
Dortmund ultimately fell 13 points behind Bayern as the Reds picked up their eighth successive title last season. After losing 3-2 to Bayern before the international break, the Black and Yellows returned to winning ways by defeating Hertha Berlin 5-2 in a game which seen Erling Braut Haaland score four second-half goals. However, the striker sat out the 1-1 draw with Lazio in the Champions League in midweek and is set to be out of action for a couple of weeks with a hamstring problem. Dortmund lost some ground in the title race last week as Cologne beat Borussia 2-1 at the Signal Iduna Park but now they are back on the road where they have won three successive league matches at Hoffenheim, Hertha Berlin and Arminia Bielefeld.
