Dundalk v Molde Betting Tips [22 October 2020]

Dundalk look set to relinquish their Irish Premier Division title after back-to-back wins but the club from County Louth in the Republic of Ireland know that being competitive in Europe is the next rung on the ladder. The team finished 4th in their group in their only other outing in this competition back in 2016-17 but Filippo Giovagnoli has led them back to the group stage after victories in qualifying over Inter Escaldes, Sheriff Tiraspol and the Faroe Island champions Klaksvik . The Lilywhites will be displaced by Shamrock Rovers as champions domestically but interestingly they will play their Europa League home games at Rovers’ ground; Tallaght Stadium  

The first visitors will be Norwegian champions Molde who last competed in this tournament back in 2015/16 and topped a star-studded group featuring Ajax, Celtic and Fenerbahce before a round of 32 exit at the hands of eventual winners Sevilla. Erling Moe and his side will travel to Ireland after heartbreak in the final Champions League qualifying round as they were eliminated on goal difference by Hungarian debutants Ferencvaros. As you would expect they travel as favourites and with Rapid Vienna and Arsenal the other two teams in this group the visitors will feel they have a chance of at least taking second place in the group. 

Dundalk may come into this game as outsiders but they do tend to score at this level and were 2-1 winners domestically over Derry City on Monday night. Both teams have scored in each of Molde's last two games with nine goals being scored across those matches so I'm expecting another lively affair here in unfamiliar surroundings for the hosts.
