The Democratic Republic of Congo are lined up to kick off their Africa Cup of Nations Campaign against East Africans Uganda on Friday evening. Congo scraped through Group G in the qualifiers to emerge second best behind Zimbabwe. In the group matches won twice, drew thrice and lost once. The Ugandans emerged top of Group L, after four wins, one draw and one loss. In the group were Tanzania, Lesotho and Cape Verde. As far as current form is concerned, DRC are in average shape, having won once, drawn four times and lost once in their last six matches across the board. Uganda, on their part, have won once, drawn twice and lost thrice in their last six matches. From their last three head to head matches, Uganda have won twice and DRC twice. Among the stars on the Uganda side are Dan Sserunkuma and Faruku Miya, who will be fighting it out for supremacy with the likes of Arthur Masuaku and Cedric Bakambu.
The two sides will each be out pursuing continental glory. As it stands, they are starting on equal strength and there is a high likelihood of both scoring. Expect at least two goals by the end of the match.
