Crystal Palace will be stronger in their next game when they host League Two side Hartlepool United, with a number of their players coming back after taking part in the 2021 AFCON finals. For the topflight side, this should be a lighter game than what they have had in the recent weeks. They are coming from a 3-1 loss at home to Liverpool, and in the last five matches they have two wins. Four of Crystal Palace’s last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals and they have just one clean sheet in the last five matches. They’ve scored in each of their last five matches, on three occasions scoring two or more goals. At home, each of their last five matches has produced over 2.5 goals.
Hartlepool United haven’t lost any of their last four matches, but they have just one win, which came through post match penalties, against Charlton Athletic in the EFL Trophy. They will be hoping for a big upset as they face a side playing three tiers above them but an area they have to improve on is their attack. Hartlepool go to this game having failed to score in three of their last five matches. They have just two clean sheets in their last six matches and have conceded two goals in two of their last five matches. It has been tougher for Hartlepool away from home; they have no win in the last four, and the last three have all ended without them scoring.
Crystal Palace are the outright favorites here and by virtue of playing in a higher league, they will have better players. They have done well on the attacking front, especially at home and face a side struggling to score goals. A dominant show from Palace is expected here and we will back them to lead in both halves.
