Chelsea have stuttered a bit in their recent matches and will be hoping to take charge again when they play host to Wolverhampton Wanderers in their next Premier League game. Ahead of this clash, third placed Chelsea have 66 points while Wolves have 49 in eighth place. Chelsea led the league standings at some point this season but an inconsistent run has left even their top three place in high doubt. They come into this game straight from a 1-0 loss to relegation-threatened Everton and have managed just one win in the last four matches. Chelsea have however failed to score in just one of the last 15 matches. At home in the Premier League, the Blues have three clean sheets and as many wins in the last five matches and after two straight 0-0 draws with Wolves, they will be looking to collect three points here.
Wolverhampton Wanderers have lost their defensive steel and as they come into this game they have three straight losses. Their most recent game was particularly disappointing as they went down 3-0 at home to Brighton. It also marked their third straight game without scoring, and coming into this game unbeaten in three matches against Chelsea, they will be looking to shock the Blues. Wolves have lost seven of their last 10 matches and two of the three wins in this period have been against teams in the relegation zone – Everton and Watford. Their run away from home is also not very encouraging, Wolves going into this game on the back of four losses in the last five matches and they’ve also failed to score in three of four away matches.
One concern for Wolves going into this game is that scoring has proven to be a weak point. They have also lost their defensive solidity, which really defined them earlier in the season. Chelsea have been on and off this season but after two winless outings, they will surely want to give a statement here. We will back the Blues to win this.
