European and now world club champions Chelsea host Lille in the last 16 of the Champions League. It's already been a big year for Chelsea with that World Club Championship victory earlier this month. Now they continue the defence of their Champions League title and then prepare for the EFL Cup final against Liverpool on Sunday. Chelsea finished second behind Juventus in their group. They lost to the Italian side away from home but had an impressive 4-0 home win over them in their final group match. Chelsea come into this game having won their last five games (including extra time) and at home are unbeaten in 15 games since losing to Manchester City in September. Champions League home form has the English side winning their last four, the last two both being 4-0 victories.
Lille are the French champions but down in 11th place in Ligue 1 this season.and nine points behind the final Champions League place. They won their Champions League group, finishing ahead of Red Bull, Sevilla and Wolfsburg, not the toughest of groups and they lost away in Salzburg. Lille have only won one of their last four games and were held at home by Metz on Friday. Away form has seen them with one win in four and they are likely to struggle at Stamford Bridge.
