Chelsea are still reeling from the loss in the FA Cup final and as they prepare to host Leicester City, they have a place in the top four secured. The Blues go into this game placed third with 70 points, 22 better than Leicester City’s tally, the Foxes being in ninth place. A loss on post match penalties to Liverpool in the FA Cup final means Chelsea can’t win any domestic silverware this season. They go into this game with one win in their last five matches and have failed to score in two of the last four games. Chelsea can however take heart in having kept clean sheets in the last two matches. They’ve won the last two meetings with Leicester City and Antonio Rudiger has been the unlikely hero in this fixture over the years. His opening goal in the November meeting with Leicester was the fourth in six matches against the Foxes. At home, in the league, three of Chelsea’s last five matches have produced over 2.5 goals.
Leicester City have had a bad season but they come into this game with two comfortable back to back wins. They conceded first in their last game, against Watford but responded with five goals; Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes scoring two each after James Maddison’s leveler. The Foxes have scored eight times in the last two matches and four of their last five games have produced over 2.5 goals. With three losses in the last five matches and just two wins in the last nine, Leicester do not carry a very strong run to this game, but they have a good scoring run, failing in just two of the last 10. Away from home, Leicetser have six losses in 10 but both sides have scored in each of the last five, three which have ended in over 2.5 goals.
Chelsea have the top four place wrapped and for Leicester City there isn’t much to play for now. We thus expect the players to come out and enjoy themselves. One thing that captures the eye though is the amount of goals that have come in these teams’ matches and we expect another over 2.5 goals here.
