Cartagena look to continue their good form in La Liga II. At the time of writing this preview, they are fifth in the table and that's seven places higher than the visitors Villarreal B. Cartagena had a good win at the weekend beating Andorra 1-0 away thanks to a last-gasp goal. That made it two successive league wins after they previously defeated Eibar 2-1 at home and that saw a late winner too. Cartagena are in the promotion play-off positions and only three points adrift of the second and final automatic promotion spot. Home form has seen them win five of their nine league games with two defeats. Three of their last four home league games have been won. They do tend to leave it late though and only one first half goal has been scored by them in their last eight home league fixtures.
Villarreal B are in 12th place in La Liga II and that's six points above the relegation zone. They can't win promotion to La Liga unless the Villarreal first team were relegated from La Liga. If that did happen and Villarreal B were still in La Liga II, they'd be relegated. They drew 0-0 at home to Leganes at the weekend and have now won only one of their last four league fixtures. Away form has been disappointing for Villarreal B this season. Only five away points have been earned by them from nine league games. There's been just one away win and only two sides have earned less points on the road than them. They've gone eight away league matches without a win with six defeats. Back a home win for Cartagena.
