Canada v Morocco Betting Tips [1 December 2022]

Morocco are on the brink of qualification to the knockout stages of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. They will be up against Canada in their final match of Group F at Al Thumama Stadium in Doha, and they need at least a draw to secure their place in the last 16. Morocco head into this game having managed four points from their opening two games and they are second in the group behind group leaders Croatia but only on goal difference. Third place is filled by Belgium on three points with Canada already eliminated after two defeats. A Morocco win can see them win the group even if Croatia won as well. Defeat for Morocco would only see them qualify if Belgium lose or the Belgians draw and the goal difference gap is reversed.

 The Canadians only managed their first ever World Cup goal in the last match, scoring early against Croatia but they couldn’t sustain the pressure as the 2018 World Cup finalists overturned this to win 4-1. As a result, Canada were eliminated and this match is just a dead rubber affair for them. Their run towards this game hasn’t been great, with just a win in the last five matches while losing three, and they have no clean sheet in the last five matches. Canada have conceded two or more goals in three of their last five matches and they have lost five of their last seven competitive matches. Canada have so far played five World Cup matches in their history, after failing to qualify since 1986, their return hasn’t borne much fanfare and they are without a win. They will be targeting their first ever World Cup points here. At least they know as co-hosts in 2026 they'll be in the next tournament.

Morocco on the other hand, are coming from an important 2-0 win over pre-competition favorites Belgium, a result that left their fate in their hands.  An impressive run ahead of this game and confidence from their opening two matches should drive Morocco to ease into the next round. Morocco are unbeaten in their last seven matches and they come here as one of the best defensive sides in this competition. Morocco have six straight clean sheets and scored two or more goals in five of their last seven games and they can only target improving their World Cup record, which has just two wins in the last 12 games. Morocco however head into this game unbeaten in three World Cup matches. In competitive action they have six wins in 10 matches

Morocco have already dealt with the tougher sides in this group and the Canada game will feel more manageable, as they get to the clash needing just a draw to qualify. Canada will want to finish on a high and having nothing to lose, there is a likelihood they will not employ an overly defensive approach. With Morocco’s pace in the wings, we feel they will punish an opened up Canada, and that is why we back Morocco to win.
