Second place Liverpool travel to Turf Moor to take on bottom of the table Burnley for matchday 25 of the English Premier League. The visiting Liverpool have been on a fantastic run and have now racked up five straight wins in all competitions. The Reds trail leaders Manchester City by nine points although they have a game in hand that could potentially cut that lead to six. Their last match was a routine 2-0 home win over Leicester City. The home side battled for a hard-earned and somewhat fortunate 1-1 home draw against Manchester United in their last match. The Clarets have now drawn three straight matches and will be hoping to take advantage of their remaining games in hand to propel themselves out of the relegation zone. Burnley trail safety by four points and need to start picking up points if they are to survive the drop.
Liverpool deservedly enter this match as massive favorites and there doesn’t appear to be a whole lot of value backing the winners' markets. Instead, we’re going to focus on the potential for goals in this clash. Liveprool’s attacking credentials speak for themself and the return of world-beaters Mo Salah and Sadio Mane from the AFCON should provide an unmeasurable boost to a team already in good form. The Reds should be able to find the net even though their opponents have been very solid defensively at home in the league, only conceding nine goals in nine matches. Can Burnley score on this tough Liverpool defense is the more difficult question to answer. There are reasons to believe they can, with the addition of towering striker Wout Weghorst and the return of the influential Maxwell Cornet from the AFCON both able to pose a genuine attacking threat. Liverpool’s away defense hasn’t been as air-tight as their home defense, conceding 13 goals in 12 matches and only keeping one clean sheet in their last five away matches.
