Burnley v Chelsea Betting Tips [31 October 2020]

Chelsea travel to Burnley for a Premier League game at Turf Moor on Saturday. The Blues are tenth in the league after taking only nine points from their first six games of the campaign. Their underachievement is the envy of Burnley, however, with the Clarets toiling in 18th place having taken only one point from five games. Scoring goals is a massive problem for Burnley, who have failed to find the back of the net in three of their last four league games. Tied with Sheffield United in this category, Burnley have scored the fewest goals in the division (three). They face a Chelsea team who had trouble conceding goals until the recent arrival of goalkeeper Edouard Mendy. They have gone from keeping two clean sheets in ten games to three shut-outs on the bounce. Mendy, who was signed from Rennes of Ligue 1, has had a starring role in this run with a series of confident saves showing the difference he has made in the place of the fragile Kepa. However, he has yet to be tested in the way that Burnley will probably challenge him and the rest of the Chelsea backline. The likes of Chris Woods and company provide the type of physicality that is typically associated with English football. Veteran Brazilian defender Thiago Silva is likely to be tasked with stopping the burly Burnley attackers. 

Four of the last five matches between these teams resulted in Chelsea victories. Frank Lampard's side has found Turf Moor to be a hospitable ground in recent seasons, winning on six of their last seven trips there. Many of these contests have been unexpectedly thrilling with the last six between the teams featuring at least three goals. A midweek win over Krasnodar ended a three-game winless run on the road for Chelsea. They won't have it easy against Burnley. Sean Dyche's team have failed to score in their last three home matches, all of which have ended in defeat, but we expect a more determined display here. Back both teams to score.
