The match

Brighton and Hove Albion begin the weekend in 16th place, six points above the relegation zone. They host Everton who are in eighth and only five points behind the final Champions League place. Brighton will be hoping that Newcastle and particularly Fulham have poor results earlier in the weekend. A loss for Fulham would see Brighton six ahead of them with two games in hand on the Londoners. Brighton have only won two home league games this season but have lost four of their last six league games. The others were vital wins over Southampton and Newcastle.  They will be looking for more goals from Danny Welbeck who will be bidding to score for a fourth successive game.

Everton begin this set of games still in with a chance of Champions League football next season. They are five points adrift of fourth but do have a game in hand. Home form is hindering them but on the road they have been getting plenty of wins. Only three of their last nine league games have been won and that has to improve in the run-in, However, this is their first away league fixture for nearly a month and only one of their last nine on the road has been lost. The reverse fixture saw Everton win 4-2, with their main forwards all scoring recently, they can get an away win here.

Key Statistics

  • Everton have only lost one of their last nine away league fixtures.
  • Everton have won nine away Premier League games, that's two more than Brighton have home and away.
  • Brighton have earned just 13 points from 15 home Premier League matches this season.

The bet of our experts

Brighton keep trying to rid themselves of their relegation worries but lack consistency. Their home form is poor with just two wins in the last 19 Premier League games. Everton have the fourth best away record but only the 14th best at home. That puts more pressure on them to get the wins on the road to maintain their challenge for a Champions League place. Their away form can get them an important win here.
