For a short time it looked as if it was going to be a good weekend for Borussia Dortmund. It wasn't to be and now they host Sevilla in the second leg of their Champions League, defending a 3-2 lead. Dortmund led 2-0 at Bayern Munich on Saturday but ended up losing the game 4-2. That left them sixth in the Bundesliga and four points behind the final Champions League place. To be in this competition next season, they might have to win it this season. They lead this tie 3-2 and that wasn't expected after going behind after just seven minutes. However, they were 3-1 up by half-time with two goals from Haaland. Conceding a goal in the 84th minute has made their job in this second leg a little tougher. Dortmund have been struggling but form has improved of late. They'd won four successive games before losing to Bayern on Saturday. Champions League home form has seen Dortmund win five of their last six with only Tottenham beating them in the past four with two victories. Home clean sheets have been hard to keep though with only two in their last nine in all competitions.
Sevilla come into this game knowing they have to score at least twice to have any chance of winning the tie. The late goal in the first leg has helped their cause but the Germans are still hot favourites to reach the quarter finals. They are fourth in La Liga and in with a good chance of qualifying for next season's Champions League. They also lost on Saturday but their defeat at Elche was an unexpected one. They had won 11 out of 12 games (the other a loss to La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid) before a slump in form. Four of the last five games have been lost, two to Barcelona. Elche were in the relegation zone and that was a poor result for Sevilla. They are unbeaten on their Champions League travels this season and two of three on the road have seen both teams score. They have to play a positive game in this match, there's no alternative. A bet on both teams to score should be a winning one.
