Borussia Dortmund were on the losing end of a thrilling 4-3 goal fest away at Bayer Leverkusen last weekend. Emre Can scored on his debut but his new club failed to push on in the second-half and remain 3rd in the Bundesliga, four points off Bayern in top spot. As for the visitors they thrashed Augsburg last Friday night 5-0 to move above Wolfsburg into 9th and are now seven points shy of a Europa League place.
Dortmund were on a three-game winning streak in the league before their loss last weekend. That was their second defeat in four days as they were also dumped out of the DFB Pokal by Hoffenheim so Lucien Favre will be hoping his side can return to winning ways this week. Dortmund remain the only side in the Bundesliga not to lose at home after 10 games at the Signal Iduna Park. They have won seven and drew three of their league games when hosting. They have won four of their last five fixtures at home and are unbeaten at home in all competitions since last April when Schalke came here and picked up a win.
As for the visitors their mid-table position is down to their awful away record. The Eagles have accumulated 28 points this season and are 9th but just a quarter of those points (7) have been attained on the road. Frankfurt may be unbeaten in two games on their travels but they have lost six of their last 10 competitive away matches. Frankfurt have just two away wins in the Bundesliga this campaign and they have lost eight straight meetings with Dortmund at this venue.
Dortmund will be eagar to get back on the right track and they will be quietly confident coming up against a side that have only won once here since this century. Frankfurt showed they know where the net is with a 5-0-win last weekend but I see them falling victim to defeat here. Bet on a Dortmund win and over 2.5 goals in the game.
