Just three points separate the four teams in Champions League Group F. Manchester top the group with six points, ahead of Villarreal on head-to-head results and travel to third placed Atalanta. The Italian side are two points behind the top two and a point clear of Young Boys on three points. Atalanta may not be in the top two but they have led in all three of their group games Their only win came when beating Young Boys 1-0 at home. However, a lead at Villarreal and 2-0 advantage at Old Trafford were both lost. The boot has been on the other foot in their last two games, having to come from behind to win at Sampdoria and at the weekend draw 2-2 at home with Lazio. Atalanta have only lost one of their last five home games but the win over Young Boys is the only one in which they kept a clean sheet. Five of the last six at home have seen both teams score. That stat has come up in the last six games they've played, home and away.
Manchester United kept a rare clean sheet at the weekend. Their 3-0 win over a lack-lustre Tottenham, was their first clean sheet after conceding in their last 10. They moved up to fifth in the table and the Solksjaer critics have been quietened a bit. The volume would rise again if United were to lose this game and then be beaten by Manchester City at the weekend. It's almost a mystery how United top this group. While Atalanta have led in all three of their group matches, United have trailed in all of theirs but have six points. A win in Italy would be a giant step towards making the knock-out stages. Can they do that though? Their last three away Champions League games (and four of the last five) have all been lost. Seven of the last eight on the road in this competition have seen both teams score and that is the bet to place for this match.
