Burnley slipped back into the Premier League relegation zone on Sunday. They are 18th in the table and travel to Aston Villa who are 13th. Burnley know that whatever the result of this game, they will still be in relegation trouble on the final day of the Premier League season. A 1-0 loss at Tottenham on Sunday has left them a point behind 17th placed Leeds United but with this game in hand and a far superior goal difference. Burnley began piling up the points after the sacking of Sean Dyche. However, two successive losses have seen them back in the bottom three. After this game, they finish the season with a home match against Newcastle. Burnley have only one win in their last six away league games and lost three of the last five. They recently played Villa at home and lost 3-1, a better result than that is needed here. A draw will take them above Leeds.
Aston Villa are 13th in the Premier League but two wins this week could get them a top ten finish. That’s unlikely though seeing their final match is away at Manchester City. Villa let slip a 1-0 home lead against Crystal Palace on Sunday, eventually drawing 1-1. Only two of their last nine Premier League games have been won but both were against sides currently in the bottom three. At home, Villa have four points from their last three with the only loss being to Liverpool. They have lost eight home league games though and that must give Burnley some hope.
