World Champions France (W2, L1) will look to bounce back from their surprise loss to Turkey, as they visit a winless Andorra (L3) in Group H of the European Championship Qualification campaign. The hosts have started the campaign with three losses of varying magnitude – conceding six goals and scoring none. In fact, they tiny nation has lost every qualification match that they have played. Their last competitive win was a shock home win against Hungary in a World Cup qualifying game, so expecting them to win against France will be a tad too much. France will be desperate to get back to winning ways after falling to a shocking 2-0 loss at the hands of Turkey. That loss came after a run of four straight wins in all competitions and friendlies. Interestingly, that loss was France’s first in the European Championship qualification in 12 matches (W8, D3, L1). Even away from home, France haven’t loss in the qualification campaign since 2006, before Turkey got the better off them. With the group proving to be tighter than expected with Turkey and Iceland fighting for the top-two spots with them, France will have to look for a big win to cushion their run.
Andorra have failed to score in eight of their last ten European Championship Qualification games.
Andorra have failed to score in 19 of their last 23 European qualifiers, and are yet to win at home in the campaign.
France have scored at least two goals in six of their last nine European qualifier games away from home.
The bet of our experts
Estonia are heavy underdogs to pinch a point or even a goal against France, let alone win this match. Regardless of France’s last match result against Turkey, the hosts can’t be expected to stretch the World Champions. All that matters is how many goals France can score after that upset loss and we expect them to score big.
