Ajax v Valencia Betting Tips [10 December 2019]

Ajax are top of Group H and a draw will guarantee their last-16 position whereas a win would ensure they finish top of the group. A 2-0 defeat at home to Willem II ended a 36-game unbeaten run at the Amsterdam Arena in the Eredivisie and was just their second defeat at home in all competitions this season after a run of three successive victories at home and four in a row both home and away. The visitors Valencia were away from home at the weekend and they managed to come from behind to beat Levante 4-2 for a second away win in three and extend their run to three games unbeaten which started in their last Champions League game which was 2-2 at home to Chelsea.

 

The Dutch champions have recorded 10 wins from 12 home games including the Champions League qualifying rounds. Ajax have scored three or more goals on eight occasions at the Johan Cruyff arena this term but haven’t managed to score in both defeats at home at this venue this season. Chelsea were here on Matchday 3 and were 1-0 winners.

 

Valencia have four points from a possible six away from home in this tournament but they need all three points here if they are to advance given the increasing possibility that Chelsea will get a victory at home to Lille on Tuesday night. Ajax were victorious in the reverse fixture 3-0 and they became the first Dutch side to beat Valencia on their own turf.

Erik Ten Hag’s side have proved hard to beat in this competition as shown by their incredible run last season and especially at home they tend to win many games. Valenica have showed potential on the road however, the tip here is for an Ajax win.
