These two clubs could both be in the same division next season. At present, AFC Wimbledon are 14th in League Two and host Chesterfield (third in the National League) in the FA Cup second round. If this game was being played a few weeks ago, this preview would be rather different. Wimbledon had gone through a stage when only eight points were earned from 12 league games. However, their form has picked up well in recent weeks. A form guide for the last five League Two games has them in fourth place. They are now only five points adrift of the play-off positions. Their last four games have all been won and that includes a home win over League Two leaders Leyton Orient. They faced non-league opposition in the FA Cup first round and it took two games to get past Weymouth.
Chesterfield were in the Football League for a long time and are former FA Cup semi-finalists. They are now in their fifth season in the National League but are third at present and only six points behind the leaders with a game in hand. They have won their last five games and seven of the last eight. The FA Cup first round saw them cause a surprise when beating League Two Northampton Town. They will prove a hard team to beat and the tip here is for both teams to get on the scoresheet.
