AC Milan v Juventus Betting Tips [7 July 2020]

After spoiling Lazio’s title chances, AC Milan will hope to stop the in-form leaders Juventus in their tracks at the San Siro in this exciting Serie A encounter. The hosts are 6th in the standings two points behind top-five having played a game extra, while the visitors are top with 75 points and seven points ahead of Lazio – before Sunday’s matches.

Milan moved into the sixth spot with a 3-0 win over Lazio on Saturday, although Napoli are just one point behind and have a game in hand at the time of writing this article. Napoli's Coppa Italia triumph could mean seventh place finish will be enough for securing Europa qualification. Unbeaten since the restart, Milan have won three and drawn once to get their campaign back on track. Crucially, the Rossoneri have scored 11 goals during these four games and have seen each of their three wins come by a margin of 2+ goals. However, Milan’s home form hasn’t been overtly impressive even though they have lost only once in their last eight Serie A home matches. This sequence saw Milan win three and draw four times.

Juventus crushed derby rivals Torino 4-1 in their last match and with Lazio losing to Milan, that saw them extend their lead at the top to seven points with eight games to go. On a day when Gianluigi Buffon became the all-time Serie A record holder with 648 appearances, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first free-kick goal for Juventus leading them to a seventh Serie A win in a row. Each of those seven saw Juventus score at least two goals. In fact, the ‘Old Lady’ have scored 11 goals in their last three matches, scoring 3+ goals in three successive matches for the first time this season. Away from home, Juventus have won their last three Serie A away matches with the last two coming by a two-goal margin.

Milan have done really well upon restart so far, including an excellent win over Lazio (who hadn't lost a home league game all season) over the weekend.. Juventus are in a very strong position with a seven-point lead and with a home game against Lazio to come. However, they have had two away league defeats in their last five games and the three wins that have followed have all been against sides in the bottom half of the table. A win for the home side though will once again breathe life into the Serie A title race. Either way, we expect a tight game and are backing this match on the goals market with under 2.5 goals likely to be scored as has happened in their previous three meetings this season.
